The upkeep of the Millennium Green is the responsibility of the Trust and members of the public as volunteers, anyone can get involved.  You can volunteer your services to help maintain the green at anytime of the year, however, from time-to-time, the volunteers of WaterWell Foundation CIC and Rossendale Rotary work together and concentrate on an area of the green that needs a bit of TLC, there's usually refreshments provided on these days!

The next planned Community day for a get together is:  Saturday 10th May 2025

10am to 12pm - Pruning, strimming, grass cutting, general tidy up of the green. Some strimmer's will be provided, however, please feel free to bring your own tools (the more the merrier). We're also hoping to attract a Trustee's of the green.

12pm to 2pm - Community fun and VE day celebrations. Join in the fun and laughter as the Rotary put on a show with a human fruit machine, have a cuppa and a traditional scone and jam in our Tea in the Tent.

We will be celebrating the 80th year of VE Day (funded by Rossendale Council). We are looking for any Veterans to join us. We will also be looking for the oldest resident of the Water / Lumb area to be crowned King or Queen of the village 2025 on this special community day - please get in touch by completing the form below, or email us details of anyone over the age of 80 to receive an official invite to the tea party (Name, Month/ year of birth, home address, email address (if available) and telephone number)

Funds raised on the day will support Rossendale Rotary's chosen charity -  Shelterbox and the contribution of WaterWell Foundation will be raising funds towards purchasing new football goal nets for the green.

WE NOW HAVE SOME TOOLS TO SHARE, HOWEVER, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO BRING YOUR OWN.

FRIENDS OF LUMB MILLENIUM GREEN

In connection with the theme 'Nature' for Mental Health Awareness week the WaterWell Foundation have teamed up with Lumb Millenium Green Trust, the Rotary Club of Rossendale, Water Primary School and a few local businesses/residents to do a little renovation on Lumb Millennium Green.

Our aim is to clear the pond, divert a spring overflow to provide a running source of water, encompass a wildlife breeding program of pond inhabitants, preserve the wooden walkways and platform, renovate the pathways for pram and wheelchair access, clear the viewing area and place picnic tables/benches around the green. We also have further plans to encourage birds and wildlife into the area and create a social point for all members of the local community to enjoy.

We are asking you as a member of our community to help us with this task. The trustees of Millennium Green have kept the green in an amazing condition, however, the work we plan to do needs more hands on deck. If you are wanting to roll your sleeves up, dust off your strimmer's or get your waders on to help us with this exciting task, please get in touch - Ask your neighbours/family and friends to get involved too.

We will also be doing some planting in the village and creating a Water Village Pride group - we even aim to have a BBQ in the summer to Thank the volunteers.
